Dr Mark Dooley is an Irish philosopher, journalist, and widely published author. He is the former John Henry Newman Scholar in Theology at University College Dublin, where he also taught philosophy for ten years. From 2003-2018, he was a columnist with the Sunday Independent and Irish Daily Mail. His books include The Politics of Exodus, The Philosophy of Derrida, Roger Scruton: The Philosopher on Dover Beach, Why Be a Catholic?, Moral Matters: A Philosophy of Homecoming, Conversations with Roger Scruton, and Against The Tide: The Best of Roger Scruton’s Columns, Commentaries, and Criticism. He is editor of Questioning Ethics, Questioning God, A Passion for the Impossible, and The Roger Scruton Reader. He is Sir Roger Scruton’s literary executor and is currently a contributing editor to The European Conservative magazine.
