David Lewis Schaefer is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. A three-time NEH fellow and recipient of numerous other awards, he is author of The Political Philosophy of Montaigne (second ed., 2019) and Illiberal Justice: John Rawls vs. the American Political Tradition.(2007), among other books, essays, and reviews.
