Patricia Rice Doran is a professor of special education and chair of the Special Education Department at Towson University. Her work focuses on neurodevelopment, teacher professional learning, and special education practices for linguistically diverse learners. She and her husband live outside Baltimore and are the parents of six children. She writes in her personal, not institutional, capacity; her views are her own.
