Rachel Collins Suffern studied nineteenth century European and early twentieth century American intellectual history at North Carolina State University, receiving her M.A. in 2025. Her thesis presents a novel historical contextualization of the writing of The Great Gatsby, arguing that it offers a richer and more specific portrait of the political and social landscape of the 1920s than is usually understood, particularly regarding its critique of the eugenics movement. She was a 2024-2025 Capper Fellow at the Triangle Intellectual History Seminar and has been accepted to the history Ph.D. program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
